June Update Below

On Monday, June 15th, under the guidance of the MHSAA and the State of Michigan, Mesick Consolidated Schools will be moving forward with the resumption of sports. We will be using a comprehensive list of requirements that will need to be followed by all coaches and student-athletes. These requirements include Covid-19 screening, temperature checks, and social distancing before/during/after the initial screening process. For the first two weeks, practice sessions will be outdoors and limited to one hour. Practices will also be limited to 9 students and 1 coach per “pod”. Please take time to read through the attached documents for a full understanding of how the process will work come Monday. For additional questions on procedures, please contact your Fall Sports Coach or Coach Duby at dubyk@mesick.org Go Bulldogs!!!

Current Job Postings at Mesick Consolidated Schools

Dear Parents,
I hope you are already enjoying your first day of summer break with your children. It definitely was not the ending any of us were prepared for or could have imagined. I am asking for your help in providing feedback. I am including a survey regarding our recent remote learning, I would like to know what the district did well and which areas we can improve if we need to do this again. (Let’s hope not, I really missed everyone.)
Please take the time to complete this survey.

I will also be sending a separate planning survey regarding the 2020-2021 school year. Please take the time to complete that survey as well. This is very important to us.
Thank you,
Scott Akom

Preventing the Summer Slide
Reading 20 minutes a day is Huge! According to research, a child who reads 20 minutes outside of school a day will learn 1,800,000 words by the end of sixth grade. WoW! A good way to accomplish this goal is to incorporate reading into your child’s daily routine.

Hi Mesick families!
Reflection is an important part of life and of the learning process. It allows us to learn more about ourselves and improve!
A defining condition of being human is that we have to understand the meaning of our experience.
—Jack Mezirow
Take some time today to think of some positive memories from this year and how you have grown and changed (individually and as a family).
Have a great last couple of days!
-Ms. Stevens

Tomorrow is the last day (until fall) that the Yearbooks will be available. You can get yours during the high school pickup/dropoff event from 10-12 and 4-6. Yearbooks are $30 and can be paid with cash or a check to Mesick Schools. Contact Mrs. Elliott with any questions - ElliottA@mesick.org

Hi Mesick families!
As the school year comes to a close, it’s hard not to think about how different things are from years past. Last day celebrations, graduation, and other summer “kick-off’s” will also look different this year. There will likely be some emotions that come up as the end of the school year sets in. Some of you might feel relief and happiness, others may feel angry and upset, worried, or a combination of many feelings. Know that whatever you’re experiencing is valid and okay! Everyone handles things differently.
To help focus on some positivity amidst the challenges, I encourage you to help your children think about the friends they’ve made, the lessons they’ve learned, and how much they’ve grown this year! What were some challenges they overcame? What were some positive memories?
Have a sunny Monday!
-Ms. Stevens

Hi Mesick families!
Last day on family and togetherness.
Remember, family time offers many benefits, including building confidence, creating a stronger emotional bond between family members, improving communication skills, better performance in school, and reduced behavioral issues. It’s also an opportunity to make great memories!
Try some of the activities I’ve included here. The “m & m” activity is a great conversation booster (and it’s yummy too).

Have a great day,
-Ms. Stevens
