Hello my name is Stephanie Brown and I’m the SEEDS Site Coordinator for the Mesick SEEDS Ecology and Education Center. We provide after school programming at Floyd Jewett Elementary. It has been my vision to restart the community garden since I started with SEEDS four years ago. With the help of three amazing women, Elizabeth Walker, Stephanie MacEachern, and our own Sarah Shelp, along with Mesick School students and administration we have made it happen! Thanks to a few grants that were written by our committee through SEEDS and Ecocorp we were able to build a raised bed garden in the courtyard of the Elementary School. This has been an ongoing project between SEEDS and the Mesick Consolidated School District for a year now. Our vision is teaching the students about healthy eating and sharing gardening tips and healthy vegetables with the community. We've had multiple student volunteers as well as SEEDS staff members (Dalcie Thomsen, Victoria Makonnen) help out with filling the garden with dirt, planting seeds, and pulling weeds. A huge thank you to our SEEDS staff for watering and weeding the garden in our down time.
We would like to invite the community to come and help harvest this beautiful garden for our local church Food Pantries or anyone who may be interested in harvesting fresh produce. Come see our garden during the school open house August 23 5-7 PM. If you have questions about our garden project, please contact me at Stephanie@ecoseeds.org.

What is Our Mission?
The mission of Mesick Consolidated Schools has three parts:
1. Developing successful learners.
We believe ALL students will enjoy learning when given the right environment and the right opportunities, along with the support that they need. We also realize every learner is unique and may need different supports and interventions.
2. Developing critical thinkers.
Critical thinkers are not as concerned about the answers as they are about the process and asking the right questions. Critical thinkers know that being curious and being a learner enables them to tackle any problem and learn any new skill.
3. Developing productive citizens.
Productive citizens know how to work together with others in a responsible way. Productive citizens practice being responsible for their actions and behaviors to get the best outcomes for themselves, for their family, and for their community. Productive citizens get involved for the greater good of their community, their state and their country!
If you have any questions, comments, critique, or just want to talk, I would love to hear from you!!

First PTO meeting is coming up! We look forward to seeing all those who can attend 🐾

As we prepare for the start of a new academic year, there are many exciting changes in store. Some of those changes involve faces that are familiar to most of us taking on new roles within Mesick JR/SR High School. Sharren Williamson is now our Admissions/Data Specialist, while Penny Lipar is now the Administrative Assistant for our building. All scheduling concerns should be addressed to Ms. Williamson, while Mrs. Lipar will handle front office communications.

Monday, 8/7, is the start of practice for High School Fall Sports (9th-12th grade). All athletes must have a current physical (dated after 4/15/23) on file with the Athletic Director or have one to give to your Coach to participate!

Have you heard the band around town this past week?!? The Mesick High School Band completed their 2023 band camp. The students worked hard and had fun while learning their music and drill for our upcoming marching season - culminating tonight with a performance of our show for family and friends on the football field. We look forward to performing for the community once again this upcoming year!
