Dear Mesick Parents and Community Members,
Many of you have recently heard of the ‘MOMO Challenge’ if you have not, I would like to take a brief moment to educate you on what is the ‘MOMO Challenge.’ The ‘MOMO Challenge’ is an alleged form of cyber-bullying. Allegedly, once students/users contact a user named MOMO, through social media, they receive graphic threats and are told to perform dangerous tasks.
Through our internet filters and security we have been notified that the ‘MOMO Challenge’ has been used in search engines here at the school. As always, we work diligently to keep our students safe. We felt that it is in the best interest of our students that you are also aware of this challenge and can help monitor your child’s use of technology and social media. I would also ask that if you are aware of items on social media or likewise that you would also contact your child’s school.
We want to ensure that you, as parents and community members, are informed of things that can impact our children and our community. The world that we live in today is much different from the world in which we grew up. Let’s continue to work together to create a safe environment in school and in the community for our students.
Blessed to be a Bulldog,
Scott R. Akom
