April 2, 2020
Dear Mesick Families,
I know that many have heard that Governor Whitmer has issued Executive Order 2020-35, this order closes schools for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. I know many of us thought this could be a possibility, but it was very surprising to me when it became a reality.
In this order schools have been charged with creating Continuity of Learning Plan and Covid 19 Response Plans. These plans will help us deliver content through distance learning for our students. Currently, I am not certain what Mesick’s plan will look like. We have ideas of what it could potentially look like and are now aware of the requirements to build this plan. However, we are waiting for the application so that we can begin this process. We will be sharing this with you when the plan is available. Parents, please be checking your email as we will also be sending home additional surveys for you to complete.
We will continue to provide breakfast and lunch through the closure. Pick-up will be available from 10:30-11:30 in the elementary school parking lot and deliveries will continue to take place on Tuesdays.
I am aware that there are a lot of remaining questions and it is very frustrating for me to say that I do not have answers for you. At least now we have some direction and it is my desire to finish this school year strong.
Again, please be checking your email, Mesick School’s website (mesick.org), and Mesick School’s App. We will be sending out further information when we have it.
Blessed to be a Bulldog,
Scott Akom
