Dear Parents and Community Members,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the nice spring weather. I am hopeful that the winter weather is behind us. I wanted to send you some information regarding our transportation and bussing. Currently, we are short three bus drivers, as you can imagine this can/will impact our transportation.
I am thankful that several years ago the district started requiring custodial staff to get their bus driving license. This has helped us out tremendously. However, spring is the busiest times of the year for transportation. We have many field trips and athletic events in the springtime. With that being said in order to meet the needs of our students, some of our events, field trips, and bus routes might be altered. For example. we might have to drop off our athletic teams quite a bit earlier in order to have the bus get back to run its regular route. We might also have to alter arrival and departure times for field trips. We might have to double up our morning and afternoon bus routes which will impact pick up and drop off times. Some students might be arriving at school an hour and a half later or arriving home an hour and a half later. We will do the best we can to avoid this, but we may not be able to avoid it at all times. We will do our best to effectively communicate any changes to routes and events.
This is not an ideal situation and I appreciate your support and patience as we go through this challenge. If you know of anyone interested in driving a school bus please have them contact Bob Harris at 231-885-1200.
Sincerely,
Scott Akom
Superintendent
