SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER – K-12 – FULL TIME POSITION

Position to begin with the 2018-2019 school year.

State of Michigan K-12 Special Education certification required.

Qualifications:

  • State of Michigan K-12 Special Education certification required.
  • Must be knowledgeable of Common Core State Standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental and social-emotional needs of students.
  • Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic testing and development of behavior support plans.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective and long lasting relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Strong understanding of the use of technology in educational setting.
  • Support and participate in all district and building level school improvement initiatives and plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practice and student achievement.
  • Evidence of commitment to reflective practice and professional growth.
  • Evidence of professional work habits and conduct consistent with the ethics of the profession.

SCIENCE TEACHER – JR/SR HIGH SCHOOL – FULL TIME POSITION

Position to begin with the 2018-2019 school year.

State of Michigan Science certification required-Secondary certification preferred.

Qualifications:

  • State of Michigan Science certification required-Secondary certification preferred.
  • Support and participate in all district and building level school improvement initiatives and plans.
  • Ability to provide instruction in technology.
  • Ability to complete all paperwork, reporting deadlines and interface with various stakeholders as required for all students.
  • Ability to serve in a teacher leader capacity when required.
  • Ability to develop strong supportive parent/guardian relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practice and student achievement.
  • Evidence of commitment to professional growth.

 VARSITY GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH

SUMMARY:

To be in charge of the basketball program grades 3-12 to help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, develop an appreciation for the values of discipline, sportsmanship and increase level of self-esteem.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A basketball background including playing and coaching organized basketball is preferred.  Preference given to those with college and/or high school varsity coaching and teaching experience.  Special consideration given to coaches from the 2017-2018 basketball staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works closely with the athletic director.
  • Understands and maintains the standard of the Mesick athletic handbook.
  • Develops the coaching staff within the program.
  • Is an integral part of the program’s youth and developmental program.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Maintains accurate statistics, records and results of the season.
  • Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establishes/oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Maintains competency in rules, rule interpretations, coaching techniques and general information about all aspects of the sport.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms.
  • Maintains necessary attendance forms, medical records and similar paperwork.
  • Accounts for all equipment.
  • Develops a consistent and positive public communications procedure through the school and media to inform the parents and the general public about the athletic program.
  • Conducts a parent meeting prior to the start of each season.
  • Organizes a team banquet at the end of each season.
  • Completes other duties assigned by the Athletic Director, Principal, Superintendent or his/her designee.

Qualifications:

  • 6-12 English Certification
  • Must be knowledgeable of Common Core State Standards and strategies to meet the academic, developmental and social-emotional needs of students
  • Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic assessments
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective, and long-lasting relationships with students, peers, parents, and community
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students
    Strong understanding of the use of technology in educational setting
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (oral and written)
    Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues
  • Evidence of professional work habits and conduct consistent with the ethics of the profession
  • Report to JR/SR High School Principal.This is a temporary position that begins August 28, 2017.
